FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On Wednesday, February 26th, the Chicago Chapter of the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP) will host a multiple speaker program at Mia Cucina Restaurant in Palatine , Illinois .  Presentation Include:  “Choosing Technology Winners: A Systematic Approach to Technology Triage"  and “Psychological Tactics to Enhance Trade Show Intelligence Collection.”

On-site registration, networking and cocktails/appetizers will be from 5:30-6:30 PM .  From 6:30-7:30 PM   - Gary M. Oosta, Ph.D. from Patent Insights, Inc. will be speaking on:  “Choosing Technology Winners: A Systematic Approach to Technology Triage."

In the seminar, a technology development model linking patenting patterns to the readiness of technology for commercialization will be discussed.   Examples of patenting patterns will illustrate how the patterns can answer key technology-related business questions.   Examples will be drawn from analysis of genetic testing methods, Pap smear sampling devices, and drug formulation.

Technology managers and investors routinely face choices among apparently equivalent technology investment options. Visualization of technology development trends can provide a framework and a guide for making the most appropriate investment choices.   The process can improve confidence in technology investment decisions by allowing both technical and non-technical managers to identify and interpret critical technology-related opportunities.

Systematic technology analysis and visualization of patenting patterns can reveal information to answer key strategic technology investment questions, such as:

·         What areas are technologically mature enough for commercialization?

·         Where can strategic investment strengthen a technology?

·         Can a "controlling" portfolio be assembled?

·         Are there missing technology links?

·         Where are appropriate licensing or acquisition options?

·         What new product opportunities exist due to intellectual property "holes?"

·         How best to position technology for acquisition by another organization?
